Our beloved brother Moulana Kamran Mahmood Ahmed son of Haji Nazir Ahmed returned to His Lord on the blessed day of Jumuah between Asr and Maghrib in the blessed month of Ramadhan.

He was a graduate from Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda (Darul Uloom Blackburn) and a great Khadim of Ummah Welfare Trust – he was the backbone of the charity and sacrificed his life in the service of others. His presence brought joy and peace to many hearts, touched the lives of many and inspired thousands.

A very unique and rare individual whose actions always embodied strong Imaan, compassion, sincerity, selflessness, courage, patience, love, and mercy.

He had immense love for Allah, the Qur’an and the Masjid – a true inspiration. Towards the end of his life, he would often say: “I am Ready to Meet Allah.” He returned to Allah in such a blessed hour – Sa’atul Istijabah with a unique big smile on his beautiful face.

Ml Kamran dedicated the past decade in serving his late mother, and sacrificed great opportunities of travelling to many countries to carry out charity work. He also had immense love for Ulama and students – he would go out of his way and be at their service. He touched the hearts and lives of many and we hope to carry on his legacy.

May Allah accept from him, illuminate his grave, grant him Jannah Al Firdaws and reunite him with his beloved mother in the most beautiful of ways. May Allah allow us to follow in his footsteps, Ameen.

“How can I sleep when the Ummah is in such need…?” (Ml Kamran Ahmed RH)

Ml Kamran didn’t marry nor have any children, but was the closest to many. He had a deep concern and love for orphans – his wish for many years was to travel and take care of the orphans. However, he always put his mother first, hence we selected this project on behalf of him – we want to raise funds for the Masjid building within an orphanage in the Khost province, Afghanistan.

Ummah Welfare Trust is building a new orphanage in which up to 2,000 orphans will reside, study, and pray. The parents of these orphans are Shuhadaa who gave their lives for the sake of Allah. The prophet ﷺ said: ‘The best house among the Muslims is one where an orphan is well treated, and the worst house among the Muslims is one where an orphan is badly treated.’ (Ibn Majah)

  • Number of orphans: 1,200+
  • Number of Musallas: 2,000
  • Cost per Musalla: £155 (this will cover the cost of the construction and land of the area)

Ummah Welfare Trust Legacy Project 2025: Building a new Orphanage

Afghanistan is home to around 1.6 million orphaned children, many of whom find themselves living on the streets, struggling to find food, shelter and warmth.

Afghanistan has suffered forty years of terrible hardship. Families here have known nothing but poverty and war. And, sadly, they’ve known even less of Muslims from afar coming to their assistance.

Orphaned children remain the poorest demographic in the country’s sea of poverty. Many must work or beg from the age of 5 to survive. Only a fortunate few learn basic literacy. And even less learn to a higher degree.

Ummah Welfare Trust wants to write a new chapter for these children. The charity plans to build a new educational complex for 1,200 orphaned children.
